Building Healthy Communities from the Ground up

2015 Green Zones Legislation

Healthy hoods not toxic hotspots! It’s a long path to turn toxic hotspots into #healthyhoods, but we are starting right now. We are so excited to announce new Green Zones legislation that will help increase public investments in environmental justice communities. Our communities have the solutions, we just need the resources to bring our visions for health, justice and sustainability to life!

Polluter penalties should go back to the communities most impacted!

We have been working hard to ensure that community impacts are addressed when polluters violate environmental laws. AB 1071 – Environmental Justice Supplemental Environmental Projects, authored by leader of the Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins and Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia, will create an environmental justice policy for polluters who violate environmental laws to put a portion of their penalties into community-based projects in the communities most impacted.
